The exhibition Upswingin’ was a collaboration with Alex Pint, a great upcoming designer and close friend. Having met at Montserrat through our mutual interest in abstract collage, it was only natural that the next step would be to have a show based solely on collage. With ever changing opinions about collage, the subconscious friendly competition encouraged deep growth between the two artists. By late April 2024, we had acquired an amount of recent work that was more than substantial for the show, and so Montserrat's Bare gallery was filled to the brim with abstract work, large and small alike, with the piece Upswingin’ at its center. A total of 106 collages. Pint, having extensive design experience, offered to design the showcard, exhibition checklist, and detailed maps with accompanying item lists for each wall, having forgone the wall labels for something more substantial. Although only for five days, Upswingin’ was the success story of two enthusiastic and ambitious abstract artists coming together to form something substantial.
